We all need hope. We may wonder, “Will I soon find a job?” “Will my aunt’s cancer surgery be successful?” “Will my children grow up in a decent world?” We all need hope.
This is also true when it comes to our eternal standing before God. We may wonder, “Will I go to heaven?” “What about all of the bad things I’ve done in my life?” “Will God let me in?” “Does God even love me now?” We all need hope!
The good news is that God gives hope. This hope is not just wishful thinking. The hope that God gives is certain hope, which only comes from Jesus Christ. You see, Jesus came to take away the bad things (sins) that you and I have done in our lives. That is why Jesus suffered and died on the cross. He suffered in our place. Three days later he arose from the dead, showing that our sins were indeed gone. John 3:16 says, that, “whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.”
You can know that you are going to heaven! You can know that God loves you! God will let in everyone who trusts what Jesus has done for them. It is certain! And this gives you certain hope!
We all need hope! Especially this certain hope in Christ!
